About ME

Hi! Thank you for visiting my site. My name is Emily and I’m a writer, speaker, and psychotherapist-in-training. In my work, I draw on psychology, philosophy, and literature to write about the human experience—why we are the way we are and how we can find grace and meaning in a world that is full of suffering. My book, The Power of Meaning, is an international bestseller and has been translated into 16 different languages. After working as a journalist for a decade, I decided in 2019 to become a psychotherapist and am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I live in Washington D.C. with my husband and two children.
